Região do Seridó

In terms of climate, the region is divided into three homogeneous areas. In general, it is observed that rainfall increases in an "east-west" gradient and in a "high areas - low areas" gradient.

The main ecosystem in the region is the Caatinga do Seridó, transitional vegetation between the countryside and the Arborea Caatinga, with medium and low-sized trees, and an abundance of cacti and bare spots. As a result of its geographic location, the Seridó preserves the marks of semi-aridity in the landscape, highlighting the caatinga vegetation, stony soils and temporary rivers
