Between the 12th and the 27th of June, were carried out the sanitary management services on the properties served by the Instituto BioSistêmico (IBS) in the Leite Seridó project, in Rio Grande do Norte.

Performed with the Vaca Móvel (Cow mobile), the consultations were conducted by the veterinarian and IBS consultant, Edson Tavares. The Vaca Móvel (cow mobile) is a unit conceived by IBS, equipped to monitor the quality of the milk and the health of the herds, as well as to carry out Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (FTAI).

In addition to the IATF, the consultant carried out milk quality tests and gave guidance on sanitary management aimed at the health of the herd and good milking hygiene practices.

According to the veterinarian, the receptivity in the properties was excellent in this first round. Producers were able to expose the main problems they face and clarify doubts about how to improve day-to-day management of the dairy activity.

“Among the recommendations we made, we reinforce that it is important for the producer to carry out the tests of mug of black backbround and the California mastites test (CMT) weekly. This facilitates the diagnosis of animals with mastitis and contributes to organizing the animals' milking line", highlights the IBS consultant.

About the Seridó Milk Project

Conceived and executed by the Instituto BioSistêmico, the Leite Seridó project has the support of resources from Fundação Zoetis and Sebrae/RN. The initiative seeks to promote the development of dairy farming on a total of 100 properties, with a family farming profile, in the Seridó region, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in the Northeast region of Brazil.

It proposes a set of activities and resources for technological assistance, structured and modulated into four thematic axes aimed at improving the production process: good practices, reproductive management, nutritional management and health management.

The project uses the CheckMilk methodology, which has a platform with a management system and application for technical teams and producers. The system facilitates project management and the application helps the producer on a daily basis, as a support, an extension of the IBS consultancy that can be accessed at any time in the palm of the hand.
